Ella Fraser Obituary
Mrs. Ella Bell "Pud" Fraser, 84, formerly of 4514 Deer Spring Road, Middletown, died Wednesday, Jan. 26 at her residence, the Edenton Retirement Center of Frederick, surrounded by her family. She was the wife of James Fraser Jr., who died Oct. 3, 1978.
Born Dec. 13, 1920 in Moorefield W.Va., she was a daughter of the late Harry C. and Alma J. Pancake Welton.
Mrs. Fraser attended Potomac State College and graduated from James Madison University with a B.S. in Dietetics. Following graduation she taught in a one-room schoolhouse in Old Fields, W.Va. and was then employed with the Frederick County Public Schools, where she taught at Elm Street School for 13 years. She was a member of Frederick Presbyterian Church and was associate superintendent of Sunday School. She was a member of the VFW, 9 Hole Ladies Golf Club, Jeanne Bussard Workshop Auxiliary and the Frederick County Teachers Association. She was an avid bridge player and was a volunteer driver with the American Red Cross.
Surviving are a son, James Fraser III and wife Kay of Middletown; three daughters, Ann W. Sole and husband J. Christopher of Camp Springs, Susan P. Mangold and husband Raymond of Frederick, and Harriet J. Albin and husband Loren of Kingman, Ariz.; 13 grandchildren, Kimberly Bridgman and husband Michael, James C. Sole Jr., Robert F. Bowlus and wife Melanie, Jamie W. Shipley and husband Michael, Amy W. Albin, Mary Ann Albin, Dana F. Ingram and husband Brad, James Fraser IV, James Mangold, Robert Mangold and wife Carrie, John Mangold, Loren Albin Jr. and Wally Albin; four great-grandchildren, Stephanie Mangold, Dylan Mangold, Jackson Fraser Shipley and Emmanuelle G. Shipley; brother, Harry C. Welton Jr. and wife Betty of Moorefield, W.Va.; three sisters, Elisabeth Brown of Williamsport, Susan P. Fisher of Moorefield, W.Va. and Anne Jones and husband Allen of Va. Beach. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Virginia Bowen; two brothers, Richard Welton and J. Aleck Welton; and a brother-in-law, Dr. J. William Fisher.
Mrs. Fraser is at the Robert E Dailey & Son Funeral Homes, P.A., 1201 N. Market St., Frederick, where the family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 28.
On Saturday, Jan. 29 Mrs. Fraser will be removed to the Frederick Presbyterian Church, 115 West 2nd St., where she will lie in state from 10 to 11 a.m., at which time services will begin, with her pastor the Rev. Robert Jewett officiating.
Interment will be in Christ Reformed Cemetery, Middletown. Bearers will be all grandsons, Robert Fraser Bowlus, James C. Sole II, James Fraser IV, Michael Bridgman, Michael Shipley and Brad Ingram.
The family requests that memorials be made in memory of Mrs. Fraser to the Frederick Presbyterian Church, 115 West 2nd St., Frederick, Md. 21701 or the Moorefield Presbyterian Church, Moorefield W.Va., 26836.
