Frances Fitz-Kennedy Obituary

Mrs. Frances K. "Fran" (Kauffman) Fitz-Kennedy, 97, of Waynesboro, PA, passed away, September 6, 2025, at Chambers Pointe, Chambersburg, PA. Born June 2, 1928, in Newark, Delaware, she was the daughter of the late John and Frances (Diess) Kauffman. Fran grew up in Washington, DC, graduating from Eastern High School in 1946 and earning her RN from Presbyterian Hospital School of Nursing in Philadelphia in 1949. She married John Fitz in 1950 (d. 1998) and Charles Kennedy in 2004 (d. 2015). In the 1990s, she founded "Fran's Vintage Friends" quilting group, which still meets today. A dedicated nurse and quilter, Fran cherished her family and pets. She is survived by daughter Deborah L. Maguire; son John L. Fitz; stepchildren Charles M. Kennedy, Dr. Jay P. Kennedy, and Edward W. Kennedy; two grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; one great-grandson; one step-great-granddaughter; and cats Willie and Tippy. Predeceased by son James A. Fitz (1981), sister Augusta Crammer (1997), and husbands. A celebration of her life is planned for Sunday, November 2, 2025, at 1 p.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Myersville, MD.
