Gary Long Obituary

Gary Wayne Long, age 71, of Woodsboro, died Friday, March 14, 2025 at his home. Born September 15, 1953 in Frederick, he was the son of the late Richard Long and Hilda Mae Fogle Long. He was husband of the late Susan "Susie" Long, who died in 2017.

He was a graduate of Walkersville High School, class of 1971. He worked in maintenance for Rotorex and Phoenix Mecano, eventually retiring as a farm hand. He attended Oak Hill Church of God and was a member of the Woodsboro American Legion Post 282.

He is survived by daughter Amber Long and Richard Stine of Woodsboro, step-daughters Candy and Holly McDonald, Courtenay Melvin, grandchildren Gage and Ryder Stine, Chris Brashears, and Taylor Laumann.

He was predeceased by seven brothers.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, March 20,2025 from 10AM until time of service at 12PM at Hartzler Funeral Home, 404 S. Main St., Woodsboro, with Pastor Mark Ginter officiating. Interment will be at Rocky Hill Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hartzler Funeral Home, PO Box 249, New Windsor, to help defray funeral expenses.

Gary was my neighbor ever since my family moved to Woodsboro 21 years ago in 2004 when I was a few months old I have always grown up knowing Gary n his wife Susie they were both the kindest n most considerate neighbors never minding the noise from me n my siblings Gary will be missed greatly as his wife is as well however it warms my heart knowing he is with his wife RIP to the best neighbor we could have ever asked for

I know Gary because him and my mother Mary Boone worked together at Rotorex and I knew him from Phoenix Mecano. He lived not far from me. He was nice and polite.
