Gerald Worrell Obituary

Mr. Gerald "Jerry" Randolph Worrell Sr., 58, of 13650 Glissans Mill Road, Mount Airy, died Saturday, Oct. 14, at Carroll County General Hospital of a heart attack.

He was the husband of Ruth Ann Knott Worrell, his wife of 33 years.

Born Oct. 8, 1942, in Draper, Va., he was a son of Renee Phibbs Shrader of Pulaski, Va., and the late Emmett William Worrell.

He was employed as a heavy equipment operator with Allen H. Mitchell Construction Inc. of Mount Airy.

He enjoyed country/western and bluegrass music.

In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by one daughter, Alisa Marie Worrell of Baltimore; two sons, Gerald R. Worrell Jr. and wife Crystal, and Thomas E. Worrell and wife Tina, all of Mount Airy; three grandchildren, Chelsea Worrell, Matthew Worrell, and Dylan Worrell; three stepgrandchildren, John, Brandy and Jaimie Deavers; and three brothers, Jack Worrell of Charlotte Hall, Joe Worrell of Pulaski and Jimmy Worrell of Newton, Okla.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Lucille Chenault.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, Oct. 16, at Hartzler Funeral Home, 11802 Liberty Road, Libertytown.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 17, at Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Frederick, with the Rev. Gary Mosorjak, pastor of Locust Grove Church of the Brethren, officiating.
