What a shock to read about Bea's sudden passing away! And how sad! I knew Bea when working and living in Jakarta with my family 1996-1998. Our eldest son Guido was befriended with Johannes. I had kept a friendly (but extensive) contact with Bea over all the years since then. So sad!
To Johannes: please accept our deepest condolences, wish you the strength and the courage you need to accept this loss and regain your life.

Bea was a very dear friend. I shall always treasure our outings on Sugarloaf Mountain, the laughs and heated discussions at dinner parties, and most importantly, her friendship. I shall remember Bea's wonderful smile, her feisty personality and caustic remarks, and her deep love of nature and animals. Even though we did not see each other regularly over the years, we always picked up where we left off. She was a great inspiration to many of us and a true force of nature. I particularly admired Bea's deep commitment to helping the underprivileged. She leaves behind an important legacy of generosity, compassion, and down to earthiness which is so rare. My deep condolences to Johannes, and to Bea's extended family and friends. I shall miss Bea immensely, rest in peace my friend.

Lieve Johannes,
Ik zal in gedachten bij je zijn tijdens de Celebration of Life aanstaande zaterdag. Ik hoop dat je familie en vrienden om je heen hebt, die je steunen en helpen dit verlies van je lieve en dierbare moeder te verwerken.

Hallo Johannes, wat een vreselijk onverwacht bericht. We hebben Bea altijd als een innemend, ondernemend en lieve vriendin meegemaakt. Elk jaar als ze weer naar Nederland kwam voor de herinneringen aan ons in Jakarta was dat ook goed om elkaar te zien en te spreken. Heel veel sterkte met je verlies, en sterkte met de tijd die komen gaat.

I was so sorry to hear about Bea. I knew her and John back in the 70s when they were living in DC. John and I were graduate school classmates in Vermont. My condolences and prayers for the Strattner family.
