Now with Jesus in the presence of unfathomable joy and grace. Surrounded by her kids, grandkids, our dad, her husband of almost 63years, holding her hand as we watched her peacefully take her last breath. All of us able to experience some joy in the sadness as we gathered… in being together we laughed, told funny stories and cried. Truly a blessing to be with her in that final moment. What a wonderful family you created, Mom - all of us so very thankful for your unwavering love and support throughout our lives. You are loved immeasurably - you will be missed terribly.
Janet Meredith Woods Elliott was born August 10th, 1941 in Tucson Arizona and passed March 8th, 2025 in Gustine, California. She was the daughter of a dairy farmer, and had a practical stoic way about her, but also had a fun silly sense of humor and was talented in many areas. Family members and many friends the recipients of her handiwork. Beautiful heirloom quilts and Christmas stockings - works of meticulous embroidery, crocheting, knitting and sewing. The maker of gorgeous wedding dresses and cakes - untold numbers of cookies and pies (a cherry pie every Valentine’s Day for her husband) - the green Christmas tree cookies at Christmas time, a must.
She loved birdwatching and flowers - had a beautiful voice, often singing in full voice as she went about her day. Nana was always reading, playing with and singing songs with the children. She was a prolific reader - always busy, usually smiling and laughing. Above all, she loved her family unconditionally.
Janet is survived by her husband of 63 years, James R. Elliott; children, Janell (Dennis) Smiley, Jennifer (Paul) Smedshammer and Robert (Kim) Elliott; sister, Jean (John) O’Hanlon; grandchildren, Brandon (Rebecca), Keith (Kassandra), Jacob, Alexis (Matthew), Joseph, Clayton, Maxwell and Elise; great grandchildren, Rowan, Bryson, Averie and Jensen. She is preceded in death by her brother, William Woods Jr. (Linda).
Her absence leaves a massive hole in our hearts. We know she will be with us as we gather throughout the years… until we can join her once again.
