John Eugene Brown obituary, 1931-2024, Walkersville, Md

John Brown Obituary

John Eugene Brown of Walkersville, Maryland beloved husband of Sandra (Harvey) Brown, died peacefully on March 19, 2024 at the Glade Valley Center in Walkersville. Born on July 3, 1931 in Fort Wayne, IN, he was the son of Clifford Leo and Eunice (Bolinger) Brown. He was raised in Muncie IN.

He attended DePauw University, then San Franciso Theological Seminary, Johns Hopkins University and Ball State University culminating in the degrees of bachelor of divinity, masters in near eastern history, languages and archaeology and a doctoral degree in history and social science education.

He enjoyed a dual career in the Christian ministry and college teaching. He was a member of the Presbytery of Baltimore (Presbyterian Church, USA) and in his final years he worshipped with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Frederick, MD. He relished his friendships with many local and distant friends.

Dr. Brown is survived by his loving wife, Sandra (Harvey) Brown (married September 21,2013) of Walkersville, MD, his three children Beth-Brown Reinsel of Vermont, Christine St. Ours of Maryland and Jefferson Brown of Bonn, Germany and his grandchildren Jorn, Chloe (4.2-10.6.1984), Jerod, Chelsea, Joel, Luisa, Johanna and Henrik and great-grandchildren Kailani and Ronja. Daughter Lisa Brown predeceased Dr. Brown (3.5.1959-10.18.2011).

A Christian worship service will be held at the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Frederick on Thursday, April 11th, at 11am, followed by internment in a columbarium on the grounds.
