John Hale Obituary

John Richard Hale, 72, of Mt. Airy, MD passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, August 1, after a seven year battle with Multiple Myeloma.

Born on May 9, 1940 in Washington, DC, he was the second son of the late B. Frank and Helen M. Hale.

John was a cabinet maker by trade but owned and operated his own home improvement business for over 40 years. With the heart of a servant, John was always ready to lend a hand and do for others. As a devoted man of God and the church, John tried to live his life fearlessly and by the 23rd Psalm.

In addition to his wife of 52 years, Beverly J. Gupton Hale, Mr. Hale is survived by daughter Ginger Duvall Reece and husband Greg, grandchil- dren Wes and Danny Duvall; Andrew and wife Danielle, Alex, Austin and Brianna Reece; brother B. Frank Hale and wife Joyce; cousin and friend Tom Brooks and wife Dottie and numerous nieces and nephews.

He is predeceased by his only son J. Scott Hale and granddaughter Haley Duvall.

John's Going Home celebration will be held on Saturday, August 18, at 10 a.m. at Calvary United Methodist Church, 403 5. Main Street, Mt. Airy, MD 21771 with a luncheon to follow.

An open mic will be available for short stories and special memories of John.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in John's name to: Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation (MMRF), 383 Main Avenue, Norwalk, CT 06851, or online at themmrf.org.

The family would like to sincerely thank Drs. Hiren Shah, Nirmal Shah, Kanen Hudhud, Rohan Rengen, and their staffs, the FMH staff, Cancer Support Group, Frederick Co. Hospice, and the Going Home Crematory for their care and compassion through John's life-end process.

He will forever remain in our hearts and we encourage those who loved John to honor his memory by not letting a day go by without openly expressing their love for family and friends.
