My Aunt Joyce
I have many precious memories of my Aunt Joyce from my childhood. She was always a vital part of our family gatherings at the farm. I also remember visiting her at her apartment in Towson. She sometimes joined us on our family vacations. She was a thoughtful gift giver, coming up with creative and fun gifts. She encouraged me to read and be a lifelong learner. Her fondness for ladybugs brought fun and whimsy to our family. I remember my dad taking her shopping for a purple AMC Gremlin, and as a young boy being disappointed that she didn't buy one. It seemed like the perfect car for her! Her willingness to care for her father, my grandfather, is something I grew to really appreciate as I got older. She made a new life for herself in Middletown, as the other tributes prove. Her family loved her and cared deeply about her to the end. We will miss her.

Joyce was a good friend and a pillar of the Middletown community. She was active in her church, Middletown United Methodist, and the Literacy Council. She was curious and always looking for new things to learn. She will be missed in our community.

Miss Routzahn was my 2nd grade teacher at Valley Elementary back in 1972/73. She was a wonderful teacher and a wonderful lady! She also had a great sense of humor with her students and I remember her fondly.
