Jones was active in community life as a volunteer and leader. He was also active in Democratic Party circles in Montgomery County as Precinct Chairman.

His first wife, Edlea, was killed in a car accident in October of 1989. He married Larocca "Rocky" Tewell Swain in September of 1992. She died in 2016.

How I admired and enjoyed and learned from Ken! I met him through Edlea when she was librarian at the old Baltimore City Hospitals and I was at the Gerontology Research Center. She was SUCH a lovely lady. They were so good together. I went as the token Lutheran on Ken's mission trip to Zimbabwe where we worked on building a faculty house at African University and again to Russia where we looked for another mission project. We visited orphanages and nursing homes and got to stay with families there. Such incredible, meaningful, cherished memories. I believe that the Holy Spirit lived in Ken and Edlea and shone through them. After Edlea died, too young and tragically, Ken looked for and found another kindred spirit in Rocky. She too was a godly woman and excellent wife to Ken. Heaven is livelier now, with Ken there, laughing and praising God all the day long. What a joy he was to know! His family will miss him so much, I know. May stories he told and stories he created warm you. God bless you all.

It was such and honor to know you father. He was my Pastor at Faith Methodist Church back in the 70's. I would see him sometimes at car shows as my husband had a 55 Chevy. May you be comforted known that your father is with God now.

God Bless,
Nancy Dorsey

My brother, Paul, and I went to St. Luke's, Woodlawn, when Rev. Jones was pastor. We were both influenced, as little children, by his messages from the pulpit, and his kindnesses when he talked with us. I remember discussing aspects of the scripture or his sermon, as the two of us kids walked home from church. Rev. Jones was an early teacher and role model for us. God's blessings on his family. Saddened to read about your dad's passing, Jeff. He lived a unique, full, make-a-difference life. I always valued my interactions with him, especially at Mt. Vernon Place, and he created quite a legacy.

Ken was pastor of St Lukes Woodlawn and was influential in my life and have many fine memories of him and the service during his life. My sympathy to his family and to the members of many churches and offices he served. He was an active member of the Woodlawn Volunteer fire department and if the siren blew off he would go. Fondly, Sarah Jane Sauter Taylor
