Lorene Huffer

Lorene Rose Huffer, 94, of Middletown, MD, passed away on Wednesday, August 20, 2025 in Frederick, MD. Lorene was born on October 26, 1930 in Garfield, Maryland to the late James Grover and Clara Irene (McKenzie) Harne. Lorene graduated from Brunswick High School, Class of 1948. She worked for many years at Granger's Mutual Insurance Company in Middletown where she developed many lifelong friendships. She enjoyed the last two years of her life making new friends at Tranquillity of Fredericktowne.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Arlington L. Huffer, her sister, Ava Harne, and her brothers Leo James Harne (Ethel) and Kenneth Grover Harne (Mary Elener). In addition, she was preceded in death by a sister-in-law Phyllis I. Beachley and her husband, Albert N. Beachley and a sister-in-law, Joyce E. McAllister and her husband, Carroll E. "Gene" McAllister. She was a life long member of Zion Lutheran Church in Middletown.

She is survived by several nephews, nieces and their children, Dale K. McAllister, and his wife, Adela of Frederick; Barbara K. Walker and her husband Christopher J. of Jefferson; and Richard L. McAllister of Jefferson; great nieces, Maria E. Burns (Matt) and Brittany R. Walker; great nephews, Matthew C. Walker and Luke J. Walker; and one great-great nephew, Brooks M. Burns.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, August 26, 2025 at Thompson-Harman Funeral Home, 31 E. Main Street, Middletown from 7:00 to 9:00 pm. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, August 27, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Zion Lutheran Church, 107 W. Main St., Middletown. Rev. Diane Day will officiate.
