Mabel Fitze

Mrs. Mabel Virginia Sier Fitze, 87, of Frederick, died Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2008, at the Northampton Manor Nursing Center. She was the wife of the late Leonard E. Sier, and also was preceded in death by her second husband, George Webster Fitze Jr.

Born April 6, 1921, in Adamstown, she was the daughter of the late James W. and Mary Boone Barnhouse. She attended Frederick Alliance Church and in earlier years had played the guitar. Mrs. Fitze loved music and dancing and also crocheted many beautiful items for family and friends.

She is survived by devoted cousins, Rebecca L. McKenzie and Darlene R. Basham, both of Frederick; a special nephew, Wayne Lininger of Frederick; and son-in-law, William Lewis of Georgia.

She is also remembered by special friends, Mary Ellen Eaton of Frederick and Merle Bell of Florida; and her many friends and residents of Taney Village Apartments.

She was preceded in death by her husbands and parents and by her daughter, Bonnie Virginia Lewis.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Dec. 12, at the Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St., Frederick. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 13, from the funeral home. Pastor Donald Sargent will officiate.

Pallbearers will be David, Wayne and Mark McKenzie, Robert Basham, Wayne Lininger and Bill Bell. Interment will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery Frederick.
