MARK SEXTON Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mark Edward Sexton, who peacefully left us at the age of 69 on Monday, June 16, 2025, after a brief illness with cancer. Mark was a beloved father, brother, grandfather, friend and business owner. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Born on June 11, 1956 in Frederick, MD, he was the son of the late Wayne P. Sexton, Sr. and Ruth N. (Kline) Sexton.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Karen Sexton; two Sisters, Ruth N. Sexton and Donna M. Sexton; one Brother, Wayne P. Sexton, II; one Sister in Law, Darla Rosenberger Sexton; and one Nephew, David L. Sexton, Jr.

Mark is survived by his significant other, Anita Ziolkowski Boecker of Westminster, MD; his Brothers, George of San Antonia, TX, John (Melody) of Little River, SC, David of Myersville, MD, Paul of Hagerstown, MD; Daughter in Law, Gabrielle Sexton of Frederick, MD; two Grandchildren, Savannah and Riley Sexton; and 6 Nieces, Lisa Harper (Mike) of Fredericksburg, TX, Amy Wester (Mike) of Asheville, NC, Jennifer Hamrick (Corey) of Falling Waters, WV, Jamie Sexton of Clarksburg, MD, Payton DeGrange (Petey) of Hagerstown, MD, Shannon Sexton of Oakland, MD; and one Nephew, Jason Sexton of Thurmont, MD.

Mark was a graduate of Middletown High School. He was a lifetime member of the Myersville Volunteer Fire Company where he had been the longtime Chief in earlier years. He was a member of the Wolfsville Volunteer Fire Company, the Maryland Motor Carrier Truck Association, the South Mountain Rod and Gun Club in Smithsburg, MD, and the Big Oak Lodge in Middletown, MD.

Mark began his working career as an employee of Myersville Exxon under the guidance of Billy Eckstine, Tri State Tank Lines, Gene Romsburg Enterprises, and an over the road truck driver for Capitol Milk/High's Dairy, Frederick, MD. It was from there he ventured into the business world as an owner, starting Allsafe Fire Trucks, Inc., Hagerstown, MD, with his wife, Karen. From there Mark ventured into another business in Frederick, MD, as the owner of Mark's Equipment Service and Towing, LLC, doing mechanical service work, expanding into towing and vehicle recovery, body and paint repair, and road service. He remained there as the owner until his retirement in 2020.

Mark wishes to thank his long time personal friends and family whom were recent caregivers, Paul and Darlene Spangler of Falling Waters, WV, Don and Ann Eyler of Smithsburg, MD, John and Melody Sexton of Little River, SC, and David Sexton of Myersville, MD, who remained by his side during this brief illness, along with his many friends and acquaintances who remained in contact.

J. L. Davis Funeral Home, Smithsburg, MD, has been entrusted with Mark's care. At his request, he is to be cremated and there will be no viewing or funeral/memorial service.

In lieu of flowers, Mark requests that memorial donations be made to a charity of one's choice or your local Fire/Emergency Services Company.

I received all of my basic Firefighting, emt, and Hazmat under Chief 8 Mark Sexton in the early 90s which let to my career Firefighting position at NIH. The attached picture is off me and my Dad on a call with Chief 8 in his car. He will certainly missed. Another great human being gone to soon.
