Mary Lyles Obituary
Mary was a dedicated member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church, Ijamsville, Maryland.
Mary attended Lincoln High School, Frederick, Maryland and was a graduate of Class of 1953. She worked at Ft. Detrick (Leidos Biomedical Research Inc.) for 34 years when she decided to retire on August 1, 2007.
Mary leaves to cherish her memory, husband Merle Lyles whom she was married to for 64 years; daughters, Brenda Jackson (Jack), Fay Lyles, and Marilyn Lyles; sons, Wayne Lyles and Gregory Lyles (Lillian); and sister, Dorothy Holland (Girlie). Mary has seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two brothers-in-law; Roland Dorsey and George Lyles; two sisters-in-law, Louise Nickens and Norma Lyles; and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.
Mary enjoyed going to the nursing homes and hospitals to visit the sick and shut-in with her husband Merle. She enjoyed traveling and helping people when they were in need and most of all she loved and cherished her family.
She was predeceased by brothers, William, John, Elmer and Merle Thompson, Herman Carter Jr., George Carter; sisters, Ursula Stewart and Vernice Dorsey; and daughter In-law, Shakira Lyles.
The family will receive friends from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. on Saturday, November, 4, 2017 at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, where funeral services will begin at 10 a.m. Officiating will be Pastor Vivian Jones.
Interment will follow in Resthaven Memorial Gardens.

Molly you will never be forgotten. When I called on you for help with my mom's headstone to be placed you did not hesitate you said I will be at the church. Little did I know at the time you were sick. When I think back you were always helpful, caring, and giving of yourself. That's what defines the kind of person you were. A wonderful lady who loved the Lord, she spread joy & compassion wherever she went. Worked along side her for over 8 years on the FCRDC Trouble Desk, Mary always had the voice of calm & reason no matter what the situation, you could always depend on her to help any way she could. I am so sorry to hear of the loss of your mother. She was an amazing woman. She was one on the first people that I met when I started working at LBI. It took people like her to make that place what it has become today. I will always remember her smile, her kind words and her laugh.
