Michael Sherwood Obituary

Michael Davis Sherwood was born at Bolling Field, Washington DC to Abbott Wilson Sherwood and Mary Sue (nee Thompson) while on assignment at the Pentagon. He grew up in Houston and Plano TX, and Dobbs Ferry, NY spending his youth playing sports and singing in the choir. He attended Texas Christian University as an Air Force ROTC cadet and went on to serve 3 tours in Viet Nam flying KC-135 transport and F4 Phantoms, logging over 2800 flying hours.

His passions were baseball, Dr. Pepper, the Dallas Cowboys, reading and his friends and family. In retirement he spent Spring through Fall umpiring for local youth teams, high school, American Legion and Cooperstown. But when winter came... he was a beloved Santa at Annapolis Mall for 25 years.

Mike truly lived up to his Santa persona. He was generous, polite, cheerful and never met a stranger. He is survived by his wife, Terri; sisters Susan, Polly & Sara;

children Allison Sherwood Duggan, Alex Sherwood, Shawn, Scott, & Stewart Wyne; and grandchildren Clayton, Conner, Finn, Parks, Matthew, James, Abigail and Tiernan. Celebration of Life Services will be held December 8 at 11:00 am at Wesley Grove United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to the Marine Corp Toys for Tots program.
