Nettie Mabel Cosgrove

Mrs. Nettie Mabel Cosgrove, 78, of 1100 Poplar St., Frederick, died Monday, August 2, at Frederick Memorial Hospital, following a long illness.

She was preceded in death by two husbands, Robert C. Harding in 1958, and Charles A. Cosgrove in 1974.

Born Jan. 22, 1921, in Brunswick, she was a daughter of the late Charles E. and Minnie Stubs Jacobs.

Mrs. Cosgrove was the owner of White Star Lunch on Market Street, Frederick, and White Star Lunch-N-Ette, Motter Avenue, Frederick.

She was a member of Flint Hill United Methodist Church of Adamstown.

Surviving are two sons, Thomas E. Harding and wife Patricia of Frederick, and John W. Jacobs and wife Diane of Brunswick; one daughter, Linda K. Summers and husband Carroll of Hagerstown; one sister, Libby Abrecht and husband Frank of Phoenix, Ariz.; five grandchildren, Philip L. Mercer, Robert J. Harding, Thomas E. Harding and Crystal D. Harding, all of Frederick, and Kathy Summers of Brunswick; six great-grandchildren; one cousin, Robert Cornwell and wife Betty of Marriottsvile; and many nieces and nephews, including John Jacobs II, Robert Jacobs, Thomas Wolfe and Kristy Abrecht.

Mrs. Cosgrove will also be remembered by friends, Flo Parsons of Hagerstown, and Betty Kidd of Frederick.

Mrs. Cosgrove was preceded in death by four brothers, Harry Jacobs, Clarence Jacobs, William Jacobs and infant Johnny Walter Jacobs; and one infant sister, Lucille Jacobs.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, August 4, and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, August 5, at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, August 6, at the funeral home, with the Rev. Elmer R. Breeden Jr., pastor of Flint Hill United Methodist Church, officiating.

Interment will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Frederick.

In lieu of flowers, those wishing may make a contribution to the Building Fund of Flint Hill United Methodist Church, 2732 Parks Mill Road, Adamstown.
