Otis Haines Obituary
Born on February 7, 1924, in Lewisdale, Maryland, he was the son of the late Walter and Rosie (Smith) Haines. Otie is survived by three children, Betty Jean Carpenter (Joe) of Rockville, Robert O. Haines (Kay) of Silver Spring and John E. Haines (Vicky) of Ijamsville; two granddaughters, Rachel Barrios (Paul) of New Market, and Stephanie Gilbert (Matt) of Great Falls, VA; three great grandchildren, Madelyn and Luke Gilbert and Gavin Barrios; two sisters, Maizie Watkins of Frederick and Gertrude Solenberger of Winchester, VA; sister in law, Audrey Haines of Damascus; numerous nieces, nephews and many good friends.
In addition to his parents, Otie was preceded in death by four brothers, Walter, William, John and Howard Haines; one son, Otis E. Haines Jr; and former wife, Ina Fitzwater Haines.
The family will receive friends from 9-11am on Thursday, September 8, 2016 at the Keeney & Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St., Frederick. The funeral service will be held at 11am. Bishop Merle Lyles and Reverend Yujung Hwang will officiate. Interment will follow in Mount Olivet Cemetery.
The family would like to thank Visiting Angels, Frederick County Hospice, Dr. Hiren Shah and Dr. David Yu for the care and support of their father.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Forest Grove United Methodist Church, 6108 Dickerson Road, Dickerson, MD 20842.

MY husband (Maurice "Mouse" White) and I spent many years of breakfast's at a Church Street restaurant with Otie. He was a most caring man. Also we owned property in Tuscarora and often shared laughs there too. Condolences to the entire family. He will be missed.

Celebrating a life well lived. I will cherish the memories forever. I knew Otie while I worked at Southern States Frederick Cooperative for 14+ years. I always enjoyed each morning when Otie would stop in the store, after he got breakfast, to get our day off to a great start. I think of him often since I left the Frederick store in 2011. Otie was a GOOD man and will be greatly missed.
