Patsy Cochran Obituary

Mrs. Patsy Corun Buxton Cochran died Monday at Homewood at Crumland Farms in Frederick after a long illness.

Born in Jefferson, May 24, 1930, she was a daughter of the late Alonzo William and Susie Crampton Corun. She was the wife of the late Roger B. Buxton and the late William D. Cochran.

Patsy was known for her dedication and hard work. She was a faithful member of the Montgomery Methodist Church, where she served as the choir director for many years, and was an active volunteer. While married to Roger Buxton, she helped build a successful farming operation, doing everything from milking cows and operating equipment in the fields. She worked at the Bank of Damascus as a teller and later as a loan processor at Standard Federal Savings & Loan and as Vice President at Guaranty Mortgage. She also served as the President of the Damascus Elementary School PTA.

Patsy loved to snow ski, taking several trips to ski in Europe. In her younger years she was an avid horseback rider, several times taking 20 mile long trail rides through the mountains in Frederick. She was an accomplished gardener, a skill which she learned from her father. Later, she enjoyed spending time at the beach with her husband Bill Cochran and at their fishing cottage along the Potomac. They also enjoyed tailgating with friends at University of Maryland and Redskins football games.

Surviving is her daughter Alicia Buxton and husband Dr. George Boyer of Woodbine, MD and her son Mark Buxton and wife Yvonne of Magnolia, AL; grandchildren Shawn Cornell and his wife Brittany of Marion Junction, AL., Nicole Shew and husband Matt of Walkersville, MD, Rachel McDonald and husband Drayton of Summerville, S.C., Danny Buxton of Smoaks, S.C., and Aden Boyer of Woodbine, MD; a sister-in-law Mary Jane Corun of Lutherville, MD; a niece Sharon Giorgio of Ocean View, DE and nephew William Corun, Jr. of Belcamp and Ocean City, MD; and eight great grandchildren; and many great- nieces- and- nephews.
