Robert A Schuman

Robert “Bob” Schuman, born in 1945 in Baltimore, Maryland, passed away peacefully in the early morning of January 19, 2026. He was the son of the late Jerome and Gertrude Schuman.

Bob graduated from Franklin & Marshall College in 1967 and was elected to Beta Kappa. He earned his medical degree from the University of Maryland in 1971, graduating magna cum laude and joining the Honorary Medical Society in his junior year. He completed his residency at Mt. Zion Hospital in San Francisco before spending 30 years in private practice with The Radiological Group in Scranton, Pennsylvania, where he worked alongside partners he often described as “perfect” — colleagues whose professionalism, camaraderie, and shared dedication made his career deeply fulfilling.

Bob is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 31 years, Carole Schuman; his children Todd (Lindsay), Scott (Kristen), and Brian (Stephanie); his stepson Colby (Angela) Kalinowski; and his grandchildren Peyton, Sydney, Madison, Samantha, Chloe, Maeve, and Evelyn. He is also survived by his sisters in law Cathy (John) Soprano, Barbara (Raymond) Lynady, and Lori (Joseph) Carroll. He was preceded in death by his brother, Stephen Schuman.

An avid tennis player in his early years, Bob later became a passionate collector of rare coins, mirrors, and Hard Times tokens. His expertise culminated in his award winning 2010 book, The True Hard Times Tokens.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the hospice team at Allied Services for the exceptional care and compassion they provided during Bob’s final days, especially Judy, Samantha, and Jennifer. In lieu of flowers, please make any donations to Allied Services Hospice.

He will be remembered for his intellect, kindness, and unwavering dedication to his family, his patients, and the profession he loved.

A remembrance of Bob's life will be held on Saturday from 2-4pm at Jennings-Calvey Funeral and Cremation Services, Inc., 111 Colburn Avenue, Clarks Summit.
