Paul Biser Obituary

Paul Melvin Biser, age 95 of Frederick, was called home on Wednesday, April 18, 2018 at Frederick Memorial Hospital. He and his wife of 70 years, Blanche have been residents of Edenton Assisted Living for the past 2 years.

Born on June 12, 1922 and raised in Adamstown, he was the seventh of 11 children born to the late Erie Calvin and Lizzie Coblentz Biser. He and his wife owned and operated with their son, Gary, the Poplar Thicket dairy farm on Cap Stine Road, from over 50 years, until his retirement and eventual move "to the city" in 1993.

Mr. Biser was a lifelong member of the Trinity E&R Church, in Adamstown, Maryland, having served as Deacon and Elder. He was a charter member of the Carroll Manor Volunteer Fire Department, having served for a time as captain. He and his wife in the early years could be found working in the "French Fry" booth at the annual Carroll Manor Fire Company Carnival. He was also a member of The Maryland and Virginia Milk Producers Cooperative Association, Inc. and received recognition as a high producer with his Holstein dairy cows while farming. In his later years, he worked with Frederick County Road Special Unit spraying Johnson Grass throughout the county. He enjoyed creating unique and inventive "devices" around the house. He was also known for finding that perfect branch while walking in the woods and turning it into a "one of a kind' walking stick.

He is survived by, and will be greatly missed by, his wife and his children, daughter, Paula Sue Tomey and her husband Gary; and son, Gary Melvin Biser and wife Cheryl, all of Frederick. He has four grandchildren, Scott Alan Biser and wife Stephanie, Thurmont; Brian Melvin Biser and wife Rosina; Amy Jillian Tomey and fiance, Zack Cutler; and Megan Suzanne Brackna and husband, Cole, all of Frederick, MD. He is also survived by 5 great-grandchildren. Sydni Eileen Biser, Shane Calvin Biser, Syenna Louise Biser, Michael Paul Biser and Julia Grace Biser. He is also survived by one sister, Lorraine Duncan, Jacksonville, Florida; and brother-in-law Charles Lewis, Charlotte Hall, MD and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers, Richard, Joseph, and Roland; and sisters, Libby, Margie, Helen, Marietta, Dorothy, Kotty; and special nephew, Melvin Ringer.

A graveside service is scheduled for Monday, April 23, 2018 at 1 PM at the Manor Parish Cemetery, Ballenger Creek Pike, Frederick. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the charity of your choice or Hospice of Frederick County, PO Box 1799, Frederick, MD 21702. The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation and love to the staff of Edenton and Hospice of Frederick County for their loving care and support of our father. I'm honored I had the chance to meet Mr. Biser. The too-few conversations I'd had with him proved that he was a great man, and the world is a poorer place in his absence. Heaven, however, has become that much richer with his arrival. My heart and prayers are with you in this time, and if there is any way I can help, please let me know.

With sincere sympathy to your family. Paul was an inspiration and brought so many gifts to my sons; kindness, compassion and love. May the memories of his life provide you with comfort during this challenging time. My sons were blessed to have Paul as their Granddad.

To the Biser Family:
So sorry to hear of Paul's passing. Losing a parent (grandparent, great-grandparent) is very difficult. Hold onto the wonderful memories and be happy in the knowledge that he lived 95 wonderful years and that he loved and cherished his family and his beautiful wife. You are all in my thoughts and prayers.

Paul was such an inspirational man who I knew when I was growing up in Adamstown. I got to know him more when I was a member of CMFC, working at the carnivals and fairs, as well as out on fire calls. Paul was liked by everyone in the community and will be missed by many.

My condolences to the family. Prayers for your comfort.

The Biser family has been part of Frederick county's farming community for over a century. Mr Biser was a big part of that legacy. My fondest childhood memories were made on his farm and with his daughter Sue. I know it's been years since I've seen him but he had one of those unforgettable personalities! To know him was to love him. I'm sending my heartfelt sympathy to all of you. Find peace in his memories ❤ Sue, loosing our Daddy's is one of the hardest parts of life.
