Perry Wightman Obituary

Mr. Perry W. "Bill" Wightman, 72, of Laurel, Del., formerly of Burtonsville, died Thursday, Jan. 28, at Brooke Grove Nursing Home, Sandy Spring.

He was the husband of Shirley A. Wightman.

Born June 30, 1926, in Washington, he was a son of the late Perry Earl and Bessie Meushaw Wightman.

Mr. Wightman graduated from Hyattsville High School and attended the University of Maryland.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

He had worked 30 years as a central office foreman for the old C&P Telephone Co.

Mr. Wightman was a member of Masonic Lodge, Laurel Wreath 149, Laurel.

He was a life member of Telephone Pioneers of America.

He was a Protestant.

He was an avid hunter and loved the outdoors and nature.

Surviving in addition to his wife are two sons, Stuart J. Wightman and wife Carol of Marriottsville, and William G. Wightman of Beltsville; and one brother, Gordon E. Wightman of North Carolina.

Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, Feb. 1, at Muriel H. Barber Funeral Home, 21525 Laytonsville Road, Laytonsville, where funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 2.

Interment will be in Union Cemetery, Burtonsville.

Those desiring may make memorial contributions to the charity of one's choice.
