Raymond Hoffman Obituary

Mr. Raymond Leslie Hoffman Jr., 67 of Brunswick MD. passed away unexpectedly Thursday August 28, 2014. He was the beloved husband of Susan Kaye Smith Hoffman for 40 wonderful years. Born in Brunswick on September 15, 1946 he was the son of the late Raymond Leslie Hoffman Sr. and Annie Virginia Brooks Hoffman. Ray served in the United States Army. He was currently employed as a Equipment Manager at the Raspberry Falls Golf and Hunt Club in Leesburg, VA. Ray was a member of the Brunswick Moose #1582, the Brunswick Eagles #1136, and the Brunswick American Legion Post #96. He was a dedicated husband, father, grand father, employee and friend to all. Ray enjoyed hunting, NASCAR and fishing. He is survived by his wife Susan, two sons, Raymond Hoffman III (Veronica) of Hagerstown MD., Matthew Hoffman (Tasha) of Brunswick MD., Brother Robert Hoffman (Mary) of Winchester VA., three sisters, Janice Wine (George) of West Virginia, Barbara Wenner of Lovettsville VA., Debbie Miller (Richard) of Hagerstown MD., several Nieces and Nephews and one grandchild, Allyana Hoffman of Clarksburg MD., Loyal Companion Tater, Special Friends Gene and Kaye Denner of South Carolina, Butch and Dawn Capino of Knoxville MD., Bob and Ann Backover, Andy and Paula Smothers, Dave Burdette all of Brunswick MD., Raymond Brooks of Frederick MD., Brother-in-Laws, Brian Barron of Knoxville MD., Mike Smith (Sherree) of Missouri, Ralph Smith (Donna) of Burkittsville MD., John Smith of Burkittsville MD., Alan Smith of Knoxville MD., Kevin Smith (Paula) of Martinsburg WV., Sister-in-Law, Justine Smith of Hagerstown MD., Mother-in-Law, Mary Markett of Burkittsville Md., and Carol Boyer Smith of Jefferson MD. He was preceded in death by his parents, Father-in-Law, Ralph C. Smith and Brother-in-Law, Tommy Wenner. The family will receive friends on Wednesday September 3, 2014 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the John T. Williams Funeral Home, 100 Petersville Road, Brunswick MD., 21716. Memorial services will be held at 12 noon Saturday September 6, 2014 at the Brunswick Eagles F.O.E. #1136, 401 Central Ave., Brunswick MD., 21716. Officiating will be Rev. Katie Bishop. Contributions in honor of Mr. Hoffman can be made to the Loudoun County Animal Shelter, 39820 Charlestown Pike, Waterford VA., 20197 or the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, Kansas, 66675. Professional services have been provided by the John T. Williams Funeral Home, Brunswick.

Susan, I am so sorry to hear of Ray's passing. I saw you in Walmart with your granddaughter about 2 weeks ago and you said he was doing great. It's like here one day gone the next. So sorry to hear of the passing of Raymond. What a shock. We were neighbors to the Hoffman family for many years. What a nice family. Always enjoyed seeing and chatting with Ms. Annie and the children. My heart and prayers go out to the entire family. God Bless!

Sorry to hear loss of Ray. I recall me mowing my yard years ago and my mower was backfiring and idling irratict and Ray walked over and tuned my mower right in the yard. Offered to pay him but he would have nothing to do with taking money. He was very generous man. Sue I pray God gives you and your family peace through this difficult time. Phil Lowery
