Rebecca Twigg Obituary

Rebecca Twigg passed away at Somerford House Memory Care on March 23, 2025, due to age-related natural causes. She was the tenth of 11 children, born June 27,1941 to Virgie and Wilmer Moser. She lived on a farm near Middletown, MD during her childhood. She attended Middletown Elementary and High School.

She had intended to become a school teacher after high school, but becoming a mother at a young age set her life on a different path. By age 27, she had 5 children with her husband Robert.

Despite her small stature of 5' 2", she was a woman of strong body and opinions.

Growing up on a farm gave her a head start on many skills she would put to use later: gardening, canning, cooking, milking cows, among other things. Rebecca was ten years old when her father passed away, and many of the farm chores were passed on to her. She was a hard worker her entire life, and much to the chagrin of her children, they were often enlisted to help with the care of the home, garden and animals.

Rebecca loved animals, and most of the early photos of her included a cat or dog in her arms. She delighted in the small joys in life: doing crafts, planting and nurturing her extensive flowerbeds, watching shows such as Carol Burnett and Agatha Christie, She especially enjoyed creating unique flower arrangements for her home and church. It was not uncommon for her to ask her husband to pull over so she could pick foxtails on the side of the road, or to spend an hour walking through the woods looking for holly branches.

Although her home, property, and family kept her very busy, Rebecca made time for volunteering. She taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School, collected clothing and household goods and delivered them to needy people in Kentucky, and generally assisted where she was needed.

A woman of strong faith, she was member of The Church of the Brethren, and especially enjoyed attending Beaver Creek Church of the Brethren.

Rebecca was preceded in death by her husband Robert M. Twigg. She is survived by her five children: Michael (wife Beverly), Rhoda, Cindy, Todd (wife Maria), Tim (wife Julie) and eight grandchildren (Nicole, Robert, Steven, David, Sofie, Evan, Krysta, Skyler), and two great grandchildren (Beau, Izac). She has one living sibling, her sister Josephine Peapples of Florida.

Arrangements made by Thompson Harman Funeral Home, Middletown. A memorial service will be arranged for a later time.

So sorry to hear of your mom's passing. I remember spending time at the Twigg home growing up. Your mom made the best pancakes. My thoughts and prayers.
