Rita Deater

Ms. Rita Ann "Susie" Deater, 58, of Frederick, died Wednesday night, March 28, 2007, at her residence after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.

Born in Frederick city on June 28, 1948, she was the daughter of the late Clarence Richard and Rita Bowers Deater. Susie started as a nurse's assistant with the original Montevue Home and continued her career with Citizens Nursing Home, both of Frederick, with nearly 38 years of service.

She was a member of Evangelical Lutheran Church, Frederick, and enjoyed collecting angels and stuffed animals. Susie thoroughly enjoyed the "Great Frederick Fair."

Surviving is her brother, Thomas Richard Deater Sr., and wife Nancy and nephew Thomas Richard Deater Jr., and wife Roberta, all of Frederick. She will also be remembered by her extended family, and adopted family from Citizens Nursing Home.

The family will receive friends at the Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St., Frederick, on Sunday, April 1 from 3 to 9 p.m. The funeral service will be Monday, April 2 at 11 a.m at the funeral home. The Rev. Charles R. Fredericks will officiate. Interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.

Serving as bearer will be Thomas Deater Jr., Jerry Williams, Richard Main Jr., Michael and Matthew Schultz and Jerry Coliflower. Among those serving as honorary bearers will be Roberta Deater, Althea Williams, Linda Schultz, Marie Goodsell, Becky Main, Barbara Harris, Kathy Hummel, Margie Maybush and Peggy Baker.
