Robert Mills

1954 - 2018

Mr. Robert Harry Mills, 63, of Monrovia, passed away suddenly on March 21, 2018 at Frederick Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of 43 years to Nancy Lee Mills. Born on May 13, 1954 in Takoma Park, he was the son of the late Harry Rockford and Evelyn Vera Mills.

Robert attended Robert E. Peary High School and, following his graduation, started his apprenticeship with the Sheet Metal Workers Local 100 Union, he remained in the sheet metal business for 37 years until his retirement in 2011. He loved racing and spent many years helping his friends, the Fletcher family, working on their sprint cars and attended many races at Williams Grove, Hagerstown and Lincoln speedways. Later, he spent time with his sons racing go carts near 75 and 80 and other tracks. Over the last several years, he enjoyed boating and spending time with family and friends at his townhouse on Lake Anna.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sons: Robert Jeremy Mills, Ryan Michael Mills and Marc Andrew Mills; grandchildren Jack Rockford Mills and Everlee Elizabeth Mills. He is also survived by his sisters Barbara Ann Houston, Joyce Juanita McDermott, Evelyn Carol O'Toole and Kathryn Marie Beach. He was preceded in death by his brothers Eugene Rockford Mills and Michael Anthony Mills. Mr. Mills will also be remembered by many nieces, nephews and other relatives.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, March 25 from 1:00 to 3:00 PM at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick. A funeral service will be held on Monday, March 26 at 1:00 PM in the chapel of the funeral home. Interment will be in Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Frederick.
