Stephen Haag Obituary

Stephen Lloyd Haag, 59, of Frederick MD, died Monday, August 31 at the York County General Hospital, a few days shy of his 60th birthday. Mr. Haag died three weeks after suffering an aortic dissection.

Born on September 2, 1955, Mr. Haag was the son of Lloyd and Joan Haag, and spent his youth in the Linthicum and Baltimore area. He attended Frostburg State University, where he pursued his interests in geography and cartography. After a first job at Dewberry Nealon & Davis, Mr. Haag began a remarkable 33-year career in the federal government, at the Defense Mapping Agency, now the National Geospatial Intelligence agency. He had retired three years ago.

Mr. Haag was an accomplished and nationally-ranked pool player. He was part of the top-ranked team for Maryland in 2011-12, and competed for the national championship in Las Vegas in August, 2012. Mr. Haag was well known in the region for his playing skill and acumen. His other passions included cycling, running, golfing, weather, politics, and the Ravens and Orioles. He was among the first PSL owners when football returned to Baltimore. Mr. Haag was also known for his sense of humor and his encyclopedic memory.

He had moved to Pennsylvania a few weeks before he was hospitalized.

He is survived by his parents, his two sisters, Carolyn and Pamela, a beloved nephew, Quincy-and many friends who loved him and miss him.

Mr. Haag requested cremation. A memorial service will be held Saturday September 19, 2015 at 2:00 PM. Please join us at Friendship Church of the Brethren, 217Mansion Road, Linthicum Heights, MD 21901.

Another year has passed without you in it Steve. I continue to think of our great times together.
One good thing about you not being here is the stress the political zoo would have done to you.
Until I see you again, love you always

I still think of and dream of him and our great times together. He was and will always be a loyal friend.

I was saddened on Steve's birthday when I didn't get to send him a card and talk with him. I love how God touches my mind and heart often with memories of fun and wonderful times Steve and I shared. He was a dear friend who still holds that special place in my heart!

I will always remember my time playing pool over the past eight years and being a team mate on our Masters team. Can still hear him doing his Ed McMahon imitation " That is correct sir". Miss you my friend.

I am sad beyond words that he will not be able to enjoy the lovely home he had just moved to. He was so happy and proud of it. I have enjoyed knowing him over the years and appreciated his loyalty as a client, and glad to also have called him my friend. Happy Birthday Steve. You will be missed by many!
