Steven Coblentz Obituary

Steven R. Coblentz, 70, of Jefferson, Maryland, passed away on August 16, 2025. Born on September 21, 1954 to the late Austin and Elaine Coblentz, Steven lived a life centered on the land and the simple joys of a good strong cup of coffee.

Steven was a life-long dairy and crop farmer, and he knew its struggles, well-long days of labor, uncertain weather, and the weight of each season's challenges. Yet he faced them with quiet determination, finding pride in the work of his hands and the lessons it taught. Through the hardships, he showed his family the meaning of perseverance, optimism, and a deep love for the land.

Steven was a kind man who carried his memories close and loved to share them. Whether it was recalling a childhood story or a quiet moment with his grandchildren, he cherished those memories and found comfort in retelling them. His joy not only came from living life but from remembering it-weaving the past into the present with his children and grandchildren.

He is survived by his son, R. Steven Coblentz and his wife Theresa; his daughter Jackie Ratliff and husband David; and his four grandchildren, Garrett, Thatch, and Caidyn Ratliff and Elaine Coblentz. Also survived by brother James Coblentz and wife, Ellen, and his brother Allen Coblentz, and wife Joyce, as well as his cousin Mitchell Boyer, with whom he shared a special bond. His family was his pride and joy, and never missed a chance to speak of them with warth and gratitude. Steven was preceded in death by his wife Lou Ann, his parents Austin and Elaine, and his brother Oliver Coblentz.

Those who knew Steven will remember his steady nature, his love of story telling, and the way he could turn even the smallest memory meaningful. His presence was a comfort, his laugh genuine and his perseverance was unshakable.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 27th, from 3 pm to 6 pm at the Brunswick Funeral Home on 1100 North Maple Avenue, Brunswick 21716. Steven Coblentz
