Steven Stone Obituary

Mr. Steven V. Stone Sr., 51, of Jefferson, died Friday, Jan. 15, 2010, of cancer at his home. He was the husband of Kathy M. Stone.

Born Dec. 14, 1958, in Frederick, he was the son of Betty Mae Young Crown and husband, Dennis, of Urbana, and Maurice H. Stone and wife, Linda L., of Hagerstown.

Steve attended Frederick and Gov. Thomas Johnson high schools, were he was known for his baseball and softball playing. He was a master bowler, an avid hunter and fisherman and loved the outdoors and nature. Often referred to as "teddy bear," he was a loving and caring person with a wonderful sense of humor.

Surviving in addition to his wife and parents are three children, Steven V. Stone Jr. of Frederick, Angela R. Stone of Frederick and Brandy L. Stone of Jefferson; grandson, Michael Godwin III; and sisters, Jennifer Stone, Sharon L. Stone and Christy L. Trala and husband, George "Buddy." He is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 19, at Edgewood Church of God, 8204 Edgewood Church, Frederick. Interment will follow in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Frederick.

In lieu of flowers, contributions should be made to the Young at Heart Group in care of Edgewood Church of God at the above address.
