Sue Shankle Obituary

Mrs. Susan Ann "Sue" Shankle, 68, of Frederick, passed away on Thursday, March 22, 2018, at her home. She was the wife of the late George Thomas Shankle, Sr., who died in February of 2005. Born in Frederick on September 11, 1949, she was a daughter of the late Robert K. and Pauline E. Hammond Shank.

Sue was retried from Frederick County Public Schools, having worked as a custodian at Tuscarora High School. She had also worked for several years as a cook at the American Legion in Frederick. She enjoyed spending time with her family especially her grandchildren.

Surviving are her children, Kim Missy, of Frederick, George T. "Bubby" Shankle, Jr., and his wife Cheryl, of Adamstown and Stacy L. Mister and her husband Jimmy, of Frederick, four sisters, Jane Reed and husband Joe, of Taneytown, Terrie Masser and husband Dwayne and Lisa Williams and husband Charlie, all of North Carolina and Robin Bushnell and husband Mike, of Frederick, five grandchildren, Brittany Johnson and Steven, Allison Shankle and fiance, Travis Phelps, Zachary Shankle, Tiffany Mister and Cody Mister, four great grandchildren, Jake, Jenna and Riley Johnson and Alexis Robinson and many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m., on Sunday, March 25, 2018, at the Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 East Church Street, Frederick. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., on Monday, March 26, 2018, from the funeral home. Rev. Verna Wilson, will officiate. Interment will be in the Mount Olivet Cemetery, Frederick.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be in her memory to Hospice of Frederick County, P. O. Box 1799, Frederick, MD 21702.

May God bless the Shankle children. Your mother was a wonderful and joyful person to be around. We have nothing but fond memories of her and George. It is with sorrow to hear of her passing. May the Lord bless her and your dad!

Kim, Bubby, Stacy and family. Ike and I were so very sorry to read of the passing of your Mom. Sue was such a wonderful person. I lived working with her at the American Legion. You all will be in our thoughts and prayers.
