Thomas Gosnell Obituary

Mr. Thomas Altman Gosnell, 90, of Frederick, passed away on Thursday, January 11, 2018, at the Frederick Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of Katherine Arnold Gosnell. Born in Frederick on December 8, 1927, he was a son of the late Weldon R. and Elsie Hanssen Gosnell.

He was a graduate of Frederick High School class of 1945 and was always active in Alumni gatherings. Tom retired from A & P Tea company in 1975, after 33 years, then went into real estate full time at Happs Realty and Associates, with Howell and Shirley's guidance he became an associate broker and office manager. He was a past president of the Frederick County Board of Realtors and realtor of the year in 1985. He also taught the real estate class at Frederick Community College. After retirement of this he went into the Antique Business, with several booths at the Emmitsburg Antique Mall. He made many friends attending auctions to keep his booth's stocked. Tom was a long time member of the Frederick Church of the Brethren.

His family is grateful for the kindness, care and support given by family, neighbors and friends, during the times he and his wife were in the hospital and nursing home.

Surviving in addition to his loving wife is his beloved sister-in-law, Anne "Billie" Arnold Dutrow, of Frederick. He was preceded in death by a half brother, Albert H. Linthicum, half sister, Elaine L. Shearer and a special brother-in-law, I. Putman Dutrow.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., on Thursday, January 25, 2018, at the Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 East Church Street, Frederick .Friends may call one hour prior to services. Interment will be in the Union Cemetery, Lovettsville, VA.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in his name to the Lovettsville Union Cemetery Company, P. O. Box 146, Lovettsville, VA 20180.

Tom was a true gentleman and real estate professional. He managed our Frederick office and taught the real estate salesmens course at Frederick Community College for many years.He also served as President,Treasurer and on the Board of Director of the Frederick County Association of Realtors. He was thoughtful, caring and will truly be missed my many including Howell and Daryl Happ.
Our condolence to his wife Katherine and Sister in-Law Billy.

So very sorry to see this. Tom was an antique dealer at the Emmitsburg Antique Mall for many, many years. Always a true gentleman, always the sweetest he could be. Many condolences to his wife, Kathleen, who he loved very, very much.
