Todd Lynn Obituary

In Loving Memory of Todd Matthew Lynn

December 12, 1978 - July 24, 2025

With broken hearts and deep gratitude for his life, we announce the passing of Todd Matthew Lynn on July 24, 2025. A devoted husband, father, educator, coach, and friend, Todd's presence brought light, strength, and purpose to all who knew him. Todd was a rising tide that lifted all the boats around him. Whether in the classroom, on the field, or in the community, he led with strength, wisdom, and a deep sense of purpose. He believed in doing what was right, even when it wasn't easy or popular, and he inspired others to do the same.

Todd dedicated his life to education and service. As a teacher, coach, principal, and passionate advocate for Career and Technical Education, he poured his energy into building others up and preparing students for success in every part of their lives. He had a gift for seeing potential in people-especially young people-and worked tirelessly to help them believe in themselves. Todd was known for saying things like, "We have to keep doing the things," and "It's not that hard to do the right thing." It was important to him to shake hands and make eye contact with every student who entered the building.

Todd was deeply involved in the Broadway Community Little League and youth baseball in our area, where he gave his time, heart, and mentorship to young athletes. His leadership and love of helping others left a lasting impact on players and families alike. He wasn't just a coach-he was a steady presence, a trusted role model, and someone kids knew would always show up for them.

Above all, Todd's heart belonged to his family. He was a devoted and deeply loving father to Mason and Spencer, who were the center of his world. Every decision, every sacrifice, and every hope was for them. Being their dad was his greatest joy and his proudest role. No matter how long the workday was, Todd always made time to be with his boys-heading to the field or the Strike Zone to work on their swing or pitching, never missing a chance to help them grow, play, and believe in themselves. His love was constant, active, and always present.

To Crystal, Todd was everything. He wasn't just the love of her life-he was her home, her safe place, and her best friend. No matter what life brought their way, they faced it together. They built their life on laughter, long talks, hard work, inside jokes, and a faith that grounded them through it all. He was the one who made her laugh when life was heavy, who believed in her dreams, and who held her hand through everything. What they had was rare-the kind of love that only comes around once. It was real, it was deep, and it was unbreakable. Saying goodbye is unimaginable.

Todd is also survived by his loving parents, Ron Lynn and Sharon Warner; his sister, Stefanie Surface; her husband, Alan; their daughter, Jordan; as well as his in-laws, Rosemary and Richard Wagner, Crystal's parents. He also leaves behind a wide circle of extended family, friends, students, and colleagues who were touched by his encouragement, wisdom, and unwavering support.

Todd's life was a testament to what it means to live with intention. He made the people around him feel seen, heard, and valued. His presence made the world feel steadier, and his absence leaves a space that cannot be filled.

The outpouring of love and remembrance near and far is a testament to just how many lives Todd impacted-and how deeply his influence will continue to be felt. His life rippled out far beyond what most people ever achieve, because he gave himself so fully to others and lived every day with integrity, heart, and purpose.

A celebration of Todd's life will be held on Saturday, August 23rd, at 10:30 a.m. at Crosslink Community Church, 4904 South Valley Pike, Rockingham, Virginia, with a potluck meal to follow at Sunset United Methodist Church, 127 S. Sunset Drive in Broadway, Virginia. The Triplett Tech Culinary Arts Program will be providing the main dish, drinks, and serving the meal. Please plan to bring a side dish or dessert to share (food can be dropped off at Sunset prior to the service). All who loved Todd are welcome to attend and share in remembering the remarkable man he was.

In lieu of flowers, the family has created two opportunities to carry Todd's light forward:

I knew Todd through my work with LFCC (LRCC) as a Career Coach as SJHS and later on the Superintendent and Parents Advisory Committee for Shenandoah County Public Schools. I always found Todd to be bright, articulate, positive, enthusiastic and open to ideas and discussions. I no longer live in Shenandoah County but continue to follow the news and was shocked to see Todd's obituary. He was so young and so driven that this is a tremendous loss and setback for the educational community. He will not be easily replaced in any way. I send my condolences and prayers for the family during what I know is a very difficult time.

I knew him very shortly but he has made an impact on my life so much, I remember him from my senior year of high school at triplet tech letting me shave his face to practice for when I go out into the world as a CNA. Everything I have accomplished has been possible because I hear his voice cheering me on. thank you for everything Mr. Lynn I hope you are watching from above with god and that big smile everyone loved so much.

Although I never got to really know him, I remember him from our Triplet Tech orientation about 2 months back. He seemed very nice and dedicated to his career. Something that really stood out to me was how passionate he was about the development of his students, how he made them feel important, and how reminded us that the elective we chose, will shape our future, and have a great impact on society. In a way, I think almost every student who was there felt more eager, and a greater sense of belonging. A true Man who inspired many :)
