Viola Blickenstaff Obituary
Born near Middletown Nov. 5, 1914, daughter of the late Oliver Wise and Iresta Mae Haupt Wise. Viola always had a smile, loved gardening, and was an avid quilter.
She had been employed at Valley View Nursing Home and Hanover Shoe Factory. Viola was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Middletown, and was presently their oldest living member.
She is survived by 3 children, Donald Blickenstaff (Darylene) of Hagerstown, Sally Pearl (Charles) and Sarah Clopper (Leroy) of Myersville; 6 grandchildren, Donald Blickenstaff, Jr., Dawn Harbaugh (Barry); Lynn Harshman (Tom), Kay Reed (Keith), Brian Clopper (Michelle), Katrina Morgan (Sean), 11 great-grandchildren, Mandy Blumenauer (Brad), Brett Harshman, Alaina & Matthew Morgan, Cole, Kendal, Blake & Breann Reed, Amy & Ethan Clopper, Nicholas Harbaugh (Jodi); 1 great-great grandchild, Cayden Harbaugh.
In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by brothers and sisters; Paul, Roy, Charles, Clarence, Henry, Grayson, Wilmer, Lillian Reeder and Catherine Gaver.
A viewing will be held Monday, September 11 at 10 a.m. in the chapel of Zion Lutheran Church, Middletown, followed by the funeral service in the sanctuary at 11 a.m., with gravesite interment and a luncheon in the church social room to celebrate her life as a loving wife, mother, grandma and friend to many.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to Evangelical Lutheran Church Zion, Middletown or Washington County Hospice.
