W. Lovell Obituary
Born December 16, 1914 in Westminster, he was the son of the late William D. Jr. and Goldie E. McClelland Lovell.
He was the husband of Gladys Bernice Jones Lovell, who predeceased him in 1992 and companion of Marie Gore who died in 2010.
Mr. Lovell attended Blue Ridge College, New Windsor in 1938-39 and played the trumpet and bass in the college band. He also played with a number of local musical groups from 1929 through 1988. He was formerly employed with Lehigh Portland Cement Company in the laboratory for 33 years, retiring in 1977.
Surviving are niece, Kathy "Kitty" McClelland of Cleburne, TX and nephew, Michael Schlee and Cheryl Huff of Bethany Beach, DE; great nephews, Chuck Nusbaum and Christopher M. Schlee; great niece, Lauren S. Hoch and caregiver, Roxanne McCarley.
He was predeceased by a sister, Peggy L. Schlee.
A funeral service will be held at Hartzler Funeral Home, 310 Church St., New Windsor at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 10, with Rev. Richard Hembrock, pastor of Mt. Union Lutheran Church, officiating.
Interment will be in the Presbyterian Cemetery, New Windsor.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until service time.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Union Bridge Volunteer Fire Co., 8 W. Locust St., Union Bridge, MD 21791.
