Betty Girman Obituary

Betty Rae (Bokmueller) Girman, 82, of Locust Grove passed away at her daughter's home in Lake of the Woods, Wednesday, October, 12, 2016.

Betty was born on March 14, 1934 to Matthew and Evelyn Bokmueller in Kenosha, Wis. After graduating from high school, Betty obtained her B.S. degree in Nursing from St. Therese School of Nursing in Waukegan, Ill. Betty married her high school sweetheart, Robert Girman, on July 27, 1956 and she spent the next 25 years as a Navy wife and mother to five daughters. Betty and Robert moved to Lake of the Woods in 2006, where they both attended St. Patrick Catholic Church. Betty was active in many organizations at the Lake. She was the founding member of W.O.W. (Widows of the Woods); and also one of the founders of of L.U.S.H. (Ladies United for Social Harmony). Betty was a knowledgeable sports fan of all sports and a huge fan of the hometown Green Bay Packers. As a military wife, Betty managed 19 moves for her family over the years.

She is survived by her sisters, Jackie Bobusch and Nancy Plutchak, along with five daughters, nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers family asks that donations be made to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 15, 2016 at Laurel Hill Funeral Home, Spotsylvania, with Pastor Shawn McGill officiating. Interment will be held at a later date in Arlington National Cemetery. Online condolences may be made at laurelhillfuneralhome.com.
