Bruce Wood Biscoe, 62, of Spotsylvania County passed away peacefully on Thursday, Feb. 12, 2015, at Culpeper Regional Hospital after a long battle with a rare motor neuron disease.
Bruce was born on April 15, 1952, in Gordonsville. He was a member of Antioch Baptist Church, Unionville.
He is survived by his mother, Willie Wood Biscoe of Spotsylvania; three children and their spouses, Benjamin Bruce Biscoe and his wife, Heather, of Centreville, Jonathan Wood Biscoe and his wife, Amy, of Spotsylvania and Ashlie Biscoe Woodward and her husband, Andrew, of Louisa; six grandchildren, Grant and Miles Biscoe of Centreville, Thomas, Jack and Charlie Biscoe of Spotsylvania, and Carsen Brooking Woodward of Louisa. Bruce is also survived by two brothers, Bill Biscoe and his wife, Nancy, and John Biscoe, all of Spotsylvania; one niece, Beth Pisula of Texas; one nephew, William W. Biscoe of Spotsylvania; former spouse and friend Abigail Biscoe Ripley of Louisa; and longtime faithful companion Priscilla Lane of Spotsylvania.
He was preceded in death by his father, George W. Biscoe Sr.
Bruce retired from dairy farming after becoming disabled from his disease. He was able to remain at home due to the loving care provided by his son, Jonathan, and daughter-in-law, Amy, until his hospitalization Feb. 10.
Bruce was an avid hunter of large and small game. He won many trophies for his archery skills. He also enjoyed fishing and playing golf.
Bruce was a kind, generous man who would do anything for anyone. He fought this battle with courage and dignity and the support of many loyal friends who continued to visit him on a regular basis. The family is eternally grateful for Bruce's devoted friends who brightened his days.
A visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 15, at Johnson Funeral Home, Locust Grove. The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 16, at Antioch Baptist Church, 11484 St. Just Road, Unionville, VA 22567. The Rev. Terry Green will officiate the service. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Following the service, a reception will be held at the church.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, or UVA Breast Care Center, 1335 Lee Street, Charlottesville, VA 22908, in honor of Ashlie Biscoe Woodward. An online guest book is available at johnsoncares.com.
