Burrell Franklin Sullivan, Jr.

November 13, 1935 - October 23, 2024

Burrell Franklin Sullivan, Jr., age 88 of Smithville, Tennessee, passed away on October 23, 2024. Born on November 13, 1935, he was son of the late Burrell and Adelle (Bowler) Sullivan.

Burrell was born in Fredericksburg, Virginia, and grew up on White Oak Road. After graduating from Stafford High School in 1953, he enlisted in the United States Air Force. In 1956 he married Mary Frances Corbin at Fairview Baptist Church in Fredericksburg. He was accepted into Officer Candidate School and successfully graduated. His overseas tours included Great Britain, Taiwan, and Vietnam. He held a Bachelor's Degree in Business from the University of Maryland.

Burrell retired in 1978 after 24 years of service in the United States Air Force. He spent his retirement in both Fredericksburg and Smithville. He enjoyed hunting fowl in his younger years and was a knowledgeable student of history, discerning antique collector, and an avid reader.

Burrell was preceded in death by his parents, Burrell and Adelle, and his wife of 63 years, Mary Frances. He is survived by son Burrell Sullivan III and wife Wendy, daughter Vanessa McCusker and husband Paul, daughter Renée Flores and husband Adalberto; six grandchildren, Elizabeth Robinson and husband Wes, Darby Sullivan, Jack McCusker, Kate McCusker, Benjamin Flores and wife Andrea, Michael Flores and wife Lauren; and five great-grandchildren.
