Carl Helmandollar Obituary

Carl Helmandollar

Carl Helmandollar, 78 of Adel, Georgia, formerly of Stafford, Virginia passed away on December 19, 2024 after a brief illness. Born in Iaeger, West Virginia to the late Clarence Helmandollar and Jo Nell Helmandollar (Stiltner), Carl spent most of his childhood in West Virginia, which is where he met and married his first wife, Laura. Together, they relocated to Stafford County, Virginia to begin raising their two sons Carles and Carson.

A welder by trade, Carl began his career working for Fairfax County where he made many lifelong friends. During this time, he married his second wife, Jean, and had two children, Craig, and his only daughter, Cheri. Carl found immense joy in watching his sons succeed in athletics and during his time in Stafford, he spent many years coaching baseball for Stafford Parks and Rec. Coaching provided Carl with the opportunity to make a lasting impression and form strong bonds with many of the players he coached.

After retiring from Fairfax County, Carl kept himself busy by working in used car sales before relocating to Georgia to spend the last 24 years of his life with his companion, Margie Webb. Together, they ran a farm where he greatly enjoyed working with horses and learning the ropes of the pinhooking business.

Throughout the years, Carl never stopped calling West Virginia "home" and he always looked forward to returning there to visit family. A lifelong outdoorsman and country boy at heart, his favorite place to be was at his cabin where he would hunt, fish, and gather with family and friends.

Carl was known for being a skilled carpenter, a loyal Chevrolet owner, and a longtime Washington Redskins fan. He also enjoyed horse racing, boating, working on cars, attending turkey shoots, watching NASCAR races, and whipping up his famous biscuits and gravy for all to enjoy. No matter what he was doing, an ice cold Pepsi was sure to be close by.

Carl is survived by: his companion, Margie Webb, his sons Carles (Dottie), Carson, and Craig Helmandollar, his daughter Cheri Schaeffer (Dave), his grandchildren Justin Helmandollar, Carlee Helmandollar, Cory Helmandollar, Jillian Bennett, Everleigh Helmandollar, Caden Mutispaugh, and Colton Schaeffer as well as four great-grandchildren, Mason, Corissa, Cameron, and Savannah. His brothers, Jerry Helmandollar (Pam) and Roger Helmandollar, his baby sister Benita Massey (Randy), and his sister in law, Sue Helmandollar. He also leaves behind his very special aunt, Patsy Cogburn (Larry) and multiple nieces, nephews, and cousins that he loved dearly.

In addition to his parents, Carl will be reunited in heaven with his brother Clyde Helmandollar, his sister-in-law Melissa Helmandollar, his daughter-in-law, Bobbie Jo Helmandollar and his niece, Tiffany Helmandollar. He was also greatly looking forward to rejoining his good friends Hershel Barlow, Troy Stone, Herb Otis, Richard Sullivan, Mike Stutzman, Sam Mitchell, and Bill Gann as well as many other cherished family members and friends.

Carl's final wishes were to be returned to his cabin and a service will be held in West Virginia at a later date.
