Carolyn Elizabeth Tilghman (Watkins), 72, of Spotsylvania went home to be with the Lord on October 19, 2025. She recently retired from the Naval Surface Warfare Center in Dahlgren after serving as a Systems Safety Scientist for 19 years. She was a devoted member of First Baptist Church of Love. Carolyn is preceded in death by her parents, Robert Cary and Gladys Hodnett Watkins; siblings, Gladys Stewart and Robert Watkins Jr.; and niece, Kathy Watkins. She is survived by daughters, Michelle Tilghman and Karen Mitchell; son-in-law, Marvin Mitchell; grandchildren: Serenity, Langston, Genevieve, and Kipling Mitchell; brother, Harold Watkins; former sister-in-law Gwendolyn Watkins; niece Kim White; nephews Bryant Watkins, Derrick Watkins, and Anthony Watkins. Services will be held November 1st at First Baptist Church of Love with Viewing 11:00 a.m. to 12:45 p.m., Homegoing 1:00 p.m.

My condolences go out to Carolyn's family. I had worked with Carolyn for the past 27 years at CSC and with the Federal Government in Dahlgren. I will always remember her kindness and willingness to help her fellow colleagues. I will never forget her.
