Dorothy J. Rutledge

Dorothy J. Rutledge, 97, peacefully went into the arms of Jesus on September 23, 2025, at Spring Arbor Cottage. Dorothy was born on April 12, 1928, to Herbert G. and Nellie G. Jett.

Survivors include her sister-in-law, Josephine Jett; nephew, Larry Jett (Tammy); niece, Terry Akridge (Michael); great-niece, Tracee Kincer; grandnephew, Dyllon Kincer; great-nieces and-nephews, Charles Jett, Aaron Jett, Rebecca Jett, and Erica Ayers (Dave); and special friends who became family, Virginia Torrice (Anthony), their daughter, Nicole Chapman, and their granddaughter, Rachel Chapman.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 55 years, Horace H. Rutledge; her parents; brother, Eugene Jett; sister and brother-in-law, Clarice and Leslie Fleming; and niece, Linda Barlow.

A private family graveside service was held to celebrate Dorothy's life. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to her favorite bluegrass gospel group, Sonrise, 6209 Pella Lane, Fredericksburg, VA 22407.
