Eleanor M. Jett
Eleanor M. "Jean" Jett, 88, of Stafford County passed away Thursday, Aug. 11, 2011, at Greenfield Assisted Living of Fredericksburg from congestive heart failure.
Jean was a lifelong resident of the Fredericksburg area. She attended the Normal Training School in Fredericksburg and graduated from Spotsylvania High School in 1941. She was a member of Ferry Farm Baptist Church for over 40 years. Mrs. Jett was a civil servant for the Army at Fort A.P. Hill for 12 years and for the Marine Corps Development Center at Quantico for 18 years.
She was the daughter of the late Columbia Oena "Lummie" and William Edward "Eddie" Miller. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Robert Wise Jett; stepson Robert Ronald Jett; and brother Edward Blight Miller.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Vikki and Mike Dembowski; two grandsons, Michael Dembowski and wife Jenna and Jason Dembowski and wife Becky; granddaughter Ashleigh Dembowski; six great-grandchildren, twins Hunter and Haley, Devan, Daniel, Megan and Thomas Dembowski; two sisters, Gerry Hogue and Ann Powell of Spotsylvania County; and five nieces, Opal Curtis, Wanda Trainham, Joanne Ellingsworth, Grace Powell-Harper and Rose Catlett, all of Spotsylvania.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 14, at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg. A graveside service will be held at noon Monday, Aug. 15, at Sunset Memorial Gardens, with the Rev. Paige Young officiating. Pallbearers will be Jason Dembowski, Michael Dembowski, Dale Curtis, Robert Dale Curtis, Dustin Curtis and Matt Bennett.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to Ferry Farm Baptist Church, 1 Westmoreland Drive, Fredericksburg, Va. 22405; or Mary Washington Hospice, 5012 Southpoint Parkway, Fredericksburg, Va. 22407.
