Gary Paul Harris

Gary Paul Harris, born in Virginia on September 5, 1946, passed away in Fredericksburg, VA on Monday, November 10, 2025.

Gary was a proud Virginian growing up in Arlington where he attended Washington and Lee High School. After graduating, he bravely answered the call to serve his country, enlisting in the United States Marine Corps. His commitment led him through boot camp at Parris Island, South Carolina, and training camp at Camp LeJeune, North Carolina. He served a tour in Vietnam in 1966.

Upon concluding his dedicated service to USMC, Gary embarked on a brief career with United Airlines. However, his true calling led him to a lifelong profession as a firefighter. He honorably served at the Ronald Reagan National Airport fire department. He dedicated himself to public safety until retiring in 1996.

Above all else, Gary's greatest source of pride and joy was his family. They remained the unwavering center of his attention and affection throughout his entire life.

Gary is survived by his beloved wife, Ann Dunn Harris; sons, Richard Paul Harris, Patrick Michael Harris, and Michael Paul Harris; and stepdaughter, Kathryn Luck (Patrick).

He was preceded in death by his son, Joseph Michael Harris.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, November 14, 2025, at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Spotsylvania Fire and Rescue (P.O. Box 818, Spotsylvania, VA 22553) or Hope Presbyterian Church (11121 Leavells Road, Fredericksburg, VA 22407).
