Hazel G. Hodge
Hazel Gene Hodge, 82, of Spotsylvania County, beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, Jan. 16, 2010, with her family by her side at Mary Washington Hospital.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James B. Hodge.
Hazel was born April 23, 1927, in Wise County. She was a member of Ramoth Baptist Church and a lifetime member of Stafford Volunteer Fire Department. Hazel was a retired cafeteria worker from Stafford Elementary School and Stafford Middle School.
She will be greatly missed and loved forever by her three daughters, Juanita Gene Hodge of Florida, Ginger Fay Mastin and her fiance, Dee Lee Farmer, of Spotsylvania, Mary Sue Kelley and her husband, Robert Kelley, of Stafford. She is also survived by her sister, Willadean "Billie" and her husband, Leo D. Reynolds, of Florida.
She had six grandchildren who dearly loved their Nanny: Scott DeBord and his wife, Kathy; Kati Bracken and her husband, CJ; Jennifer Johnson and her fiance, Brian Furrow; Matthew Sullivan; William Kelley and his wife, Mindy; and James Kelley. She also had seven great-grandchildren, Rachael Decatur, Savannah Johnson, Serenity Sullivan, Mia and Tyler Bracken, and Brett and Cade Kelley.
A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 20, in Sunset Memorial Gardens, with the Rev. Brent Vickery officiating. The grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 19, at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg.
