Herbert Ingram Obituary

Herbert R. Ingram III

Herbert Rowland "Ron" Ingram III, 64, died unexpectedly at his home in Montross on Wednesday, June 20, 2012.

He was born Sept. 13, 1947, in Norfolk. As a child he lived in Irvington before moving to Alexandria, where he graduated from F.C. Hammond High School in 1964. He served in the U.S.Air Force from 1964 to 1968. For many years prior to moving to Montross, he lived in White Stone and Palmer.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Kathleen Long Stone, and a brother, William Paul Ingram.

Survivors include his wife of eight years, Debra Erickson Ingram; his father, Herbert R. Ingram Jr. of Wichita, Kan.; and his brother Richard R. Ingram of White Stone; son and daughter Paul Ingram and Heather Morrow, both of Kansas City, and daughter Danielle Ingram of Kilmarnock; and several grandchildren, cousins and other family members.

He had become known for his photographic skills. Prior to suffering a stroke, he had worked in the building trade and had played base, six-string and 12-string guitar. Recently, his hobby was building one-quarter-scale model airplanes.

According to his wishes, he was cremated by Welch Funeral Home, Montross, and will be privately interred in the family cemetery in Irvington. His wife will hold a memorial to celebrate his life at a later date. Mrs. Ingram requests that any acknowledgment be in the form of tax-deductible contributions to the Hospital Hospitality House of Richmond, 612 E. Marshall St., Richmond, Va. 23219. This charitable organization provided crucial assistance to the Ingrams while Ron was hospitalized for a hemorrhagic stroke in 2004. Tax-deductible donations are also encouraged for the Stratford Hall Volunteer Fire Department Fund, 136 Century Lane, Montross, Va. 22520. This fund is to build a fire station projected to serve more than 600 residences that are currently farther than 10 miles from the Montross Fire Department.
