Larry Myers Obituary

Larry Jean Myers

Larry Jean Myers, 79, of Fredericksburg died peacefully at Mary Washington Hospital on Friday, July 21, 2023 with his loving wife by his side.

Larry was born in Kanawa County, WV on October 25, 1943 to Delbert and Leora Myers; he was one of six children. He served in the U.S. Army from November 1963 to November 1967 and was an E-4. When Larry left the Army, he moved to Fredericksburg. Larry worked at the Coca Cola plant and from there he started working construction. While working construction he met Raynold C. "Ray" Glazebrook who right away saw Larry's potential and hired him to work for Johnson and Glazebrook Realty. Larry and Ray formed a lifelong friendship and Mr. Glazebrook pushed him to start his own business. He learned many different trades, which enabled him to become a licensed homebuilder. Larry enjoyed being able to sit back at the end of the day and see his accomplishments. He continued to work until he retired in 2004. When Larry retired, he enjoyed his home that he built in 1979. He spent his time with his wife, Barbara, and his family. Larry loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Larry is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Barbara I. Myers; sons Robert T. Myers (Todd) and Mike Myers; step-children Christina Porter, Patrick Porter, and David Porter; grandchildren Tiffany and Jacob Myers; his biggest joy, great-granddaughter Charleigh Ray Myers; other step-grandchildren; sister Kay Hibbs; brother Al Myers; sister-in-law Carol Myers; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Delbert and Leora Myers; and siblings Clayton Myers, Lindy Lou Myers, and Carolyn Myers (Susie).

A service will be held at a later date at Wilderness Baptist Church with Military Honors.
