Michael Gill Obituary
June 19, 2025
Michael Edward Gill, 82, passed away on June 19, 2025, after a short illness. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Suzanne (Sue) M. Gill, daughter Karen Gill Bernritter of Tennessee, son Joseph Benton Gill of Fredericksburg, his brother, Tim Susengill of Pennsylvania, and his sister Susan Machalek of Florida, his sister-in-law Inge Gill of Pennsylvania, grandchildren Jamie, Hilary, Henry, Andrew Bernritter, , and Conor Gill, along with nine great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. His parents Eva and Arthur Gill preceded him in death along with his older brother Patrick Gill and his younger brother Daniel Gill, and Brandon Bernritter, his grandson.
Born in Maryland, he grew up in Washington, D.C., graduating from Archbishop Carroll High School in 1961. His family had a summer home in Colonial Beach where Mike was a lifeguard on the beach. He graduated from the University of Virginia in 1970 with a Bachelor of Science degree. He taught in Madison County and King George County before making a career as a motorcycle mechanic. He loved tinkering with old Japanese motorcycles and restored many over the years. He loved astronomy and set up a display showing the distance from one planet to another from the sun with the Astronomy Club. Mike was fond of cats and loved to have Gordo sleeping on his lap during naps.
Michael will be cremated. There will be no other services.

Mike Gill worked at Fredericksburg Motor Sports and was a grest teacher for our service department because he was a great mechanic. He had a kind heart and was willing to teach others skills that would make them successful.
