Michael Shiflett Obituary
Michael E. Shiflett, 73, went home to be with Jesus on Friday, January 5, 2024 after a valiant fight with cancer.
Mike grew up in Green County, Virginia, where he enjoyed the outdoors and hunting. He deeply loved this country and in 1969, was proud to join the US Navy. Later, he became a long haul trucker, having worked for Southland (McLane), Peoples Drug (CVS), and a number of other. This career gave him the opportunity to travel and meet new people. Anyone who ever knew Mike, knew that he never met a stranger. In 2017, he retired and had more time for hobbies, golf being at the top of the list. While on a golf course, he met new friends who invited him to join the Knights of Pythias, Fredericksburg Lodge. Mike enjoyed spending time with these new friends, as well as many old friends through Emmaus and a number of church groups.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Diana Shiflett; four sisters, Cheri Greene, Karen Dunnivan, Patti Riddle (Roger), and Brenda Blonigen (Bob); and many nieces and nephews.
Mike was preceded in death by his father, Carroll Shiflett; and mother Patricia Shiflett.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 20, 2024 at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home chapel.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Heartland Hospice (493 Blackwell Rd., Ste. 319, Warrenton, VA 20186).

Diana, my heart and prayers go out to you. Grew up with Mike and family with a hill between us. Many fond memories as neighbor cousins. I think I stayed at their house more than my own.

On behalf of the Knights of Pythias Lodge 22, Mike will be sorely missed. He was a delight to be with, and he enjoyed his time spent at meetings and was a great addition to our membership.
