Nancy Bryant Obituary

Nancy B. Bryant

Nancy Browning Bryant, 86, of Roanoke, formerly of Fredericksburg, died Friday, Sept. 27, 2002. She was a graduate of Mary Washington College and the University of Tennessee and taught home economics in several areas of Virginia. She was a charter member of St. Matthias United Methodist Church in Stafford and more recently a member of Southview United Methodist Church in Roanoke. Mrs. Bryant was preceded in death by her husband, Clayton L. Bryant, and her brother, William L. Browning Jr.

Surviving are her three daughters and their spouses, Lynn Bryant and her husband, the Rev. George Pearson, of Roanoke, Barbara and Kim Burgess of Roanoke, and Ellen and Jerry Berman of Ruckersville; four grandchildren, Justin Burgess and Lindsay Burgess, both of Roanoke, and Matthew Berman and Michael Berman, both of Ruckersville; one sister, Katheryne Alfred of Hartwood; and several nieces and nephews.

In accordance with her request, Mrs. Bryant's body has been donated to the Virginia Department of Health Anatomical Program for medical research.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 1, at St. Matthias United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Jeff Wilson officiating. The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 29, at Oakey's Funeral Service, North Chapel, in Roanoke.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to St. Matthias United Methodist Church, 426 Deacon Rd., Fredericksburg, Va. 22405.
