Nancy A. Ross
Nancy Ann Ross, 78, of King George County went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Oct. 4, 2011, after a long illness.
She was born Nov. 1, 1932, in Dixfield, Maine, the daughter of Linwood and Marjorie Witham.
During her married life, Mrs. Ross was a devoted Proverbs 31 homemaker who "watched over the affairs of her household." She created beautiful homes, provided home-baked delicacies and made colorful quilts and cuddly dolls for her loved ones.
In the early '60s she was a Scout leader for the Brownies and Girl Scouts in King George. In the late '60s she and her husband moved back to New England. During the '70s she worked in the Bus Ministry and youth group at Calvary Bible Church in Derry, N.H. While members of the Trinity Bible Church in Londonderry, N.H., she and her husband worked on the missions board from 1978 to 1991. She also supervised the church kitchen operations and was known as the "Kitchen Queen." After her husband retired, they moved back to King George, where they built their current home in 1994. Since 2001 they have been members of Tabernacle Baptist Church, where they worked on missions until 2007.
Surviving are her husband, Charles Leonard Ross; sons, Brian R. Ross and Kirk L. Ross; and daughter, Deborah L. Ross; 14 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at Tabernacle Baptist Church on Friday, Oct. 7, from 2 to 4 p.m., with Dr. Sherman Davis officiating.
