Pearle Edith Galatas

Pearle Edith Galatas, 97, a longtime resident of Fredericksburg, VA, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 18, 2024, at Commonwealth Senior Living at Fredericksburg.

Pearle was born in Malden, Massachusetts on March 27, 1927, the daughter of the late Louis Galatas and the late Edith (Richards) Galatas. Pearle was preceded in death by her brother, William.

Pearle was a graduate of State Teachers College, Salem, Massachusetts with a BS in Education, and an MA in Religious Education from Columbia University, New York, New York. She was a career educator, teaching at many institutions across the Country, including Stafford Elementary School, Stafford County Public Schools, from 1969 until her retirement in 1993. Pearle also enjoyed teaching English as a secondary language.

Pearle was an avid traveler with many trips across the country and the world, including visits to her relatives in Greece and England. During her visits, Pearle enjoyed dressing in the native styles of clothing, creating many colorful and enjoyable memories of her visits.

Pearle was an active member at St. Georges Episcopal Church, Fredericksburg, where she served as a member of the Alter Guild and taught baptismal classes, and at Trinity Episcopal Church, Fredericksburg.

Friends and acquaintances are kindly invited to attend a Celebration of Life with Mass of Resurrection at 10 a.m., on Friday, October 11, 2024, at Trinity Episcopal Church, 825 College Ave, Fredericksburg, VA 22401. Immediately following the service, Pearle's ashes will be interred in the Trinity's Memorial Garden with a reception following.
