Robert "Bob" Notman went to be with the Lord on Saturday, Feb. 27, 2016, following a lengthy illness.
He was born in Jens, Mont., on March 29, 1931. His family moved to the Yakima Valley area of Washington where he grew up on a family farm. His career later took him to California where he married and raised his family. In 2005, he moved to Stafford County.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Virginia Notman; his son, Rob Notman (Tracy) of Stafford; a brother, Lynn Notman (Carolyn) of Yakima Wash.; a sister, Janet Johnson (Robert) of Spokane, Wash.; his grandchildren, Rebecca Notman of Stafford, and Garrett Notman (Sharon), a U.S. Marine currently stationed at Camp Lejeune, N.C.; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Audrey Notman; a brother, Ted Notman; and sister Gloria High (Darrell).
Bob graduated from Central Washington College with a degree in Industrial Design and had a long and successful career as a mechanical engineer and engineering manager for several companies in the airline ground support equipment industry in California.
He was a kind and gracious man who found great joy in serving others. He walked with the Lord and served Him throughout his life until Parkinson's disease and other health challenges curtailed his physical abilities. Through all, he never lost his gracious spirit and ready smile. He was loved and will be missed by many.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 1 p.m. April 2, at the Stafford County Christian Church.
In lieu of flowers, donations in his honor may be made to the Building Fund of the Stafford County Christian Church.
